Starting May 31, the government will provide a subsidy of 50 cents per litre to commercial vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas, or LPG, for a period of two months. The subsidy will begin at midnight on May 31, and is expected to benefit nearly 17,000 taxis, approximately 3,400 minibuses, and about 170 school minibuses. All 66 LPG refuelling stations in Hong Kong will directly offer a discount of 50 cents per litre to drivers refuelling. Some drivers welcome the subsidy, but transport operators says it is not enough. The sector also hopes the subsidy will last six months.
