Cheung Chau Midnight Bun Scrambling Festival returns

Another crowd-favourite event at the Cheung Chau Bun Festival -- the Bun Scrambling Competition -- returns this year.

Nine male and three female raced skyward up the 14-metre tall bun tower as the competition kicked off at the stroke of midnight. They scaled straight to the upper reaches of the tower. This as the bun tower is divided into three scoring zones. The higher the buns are, the more points they bear.

Among the star contestants tonight was Cheung Chau resident Kwok Ka-ming, wearing the No. 1 vest. He clinched his 10th win last year.

Also spotlighted was registered nurse and ice climber Janet Kung, who defended her coveted title: the Queen of Buns last year.
