A Spanish airline is suspending flights to Cuba amid the island country's energy crisis.

World2Fly is the latest in a series of cutbacks by airlines and is another major blow to Cuban travelers and tourists.

The strict energy blockade by the US has left Cuba without oil for its economy, including fuel for aircraft.

World2Fly has recently been refuelling in nearby Dominican Republic.

The airline was especially popular with Cubans due to its cheap tickets and generous checked bag allowance, a welcome option for those who needed to bring items to the island during a time of material shortages.
