Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accuses the United Arab Emirates of direct involvement in military operations against his country. The spat comes a day after the UAE denied a statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he visited the Gulf country during the Iran war, to which Aragchi reacts by saying "those colluding with Israel to sow division will be held to account." Iran's foreign minister said Thursday he warned the United Arab Emirates that the US and Israel could not bring his country security. But the "UAE stood by the US and Israel in this war," Araghchi said, referring to the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran. His comments came as foreign ministers from the BRICS nations began a two day meeting in New Delhi. The talks brought together diplomats from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa as well as Iran and the UAE along with other newer member countries. The meeting comes as the war in Iran has disrupted global energy supplies and driven up oil prices and coincides with US President Donald Trump's meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing. This as Araghchi met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of BRICS. Meanwhile, India condemns an attack that sank an Indian-flagged cargo vessel transiting through Omani waters as unacceptable. Mukesh Mangal from the Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said: "A mechanised sailing vessel, that is actually made of wood and named 'Haji Ali', during its voyage from Somalia to Sharjah, UAE, reportedly encountered an attack incident in Omani waters in early hours of 13th May 2026 which led to fire on board and subsequent sinking of the vessel. All 14 crew members onboard were safely rescued by the Omani coast guard and have reached Dibba port that is Oman."
