One person was killed and another four were injured after a taxi lost control and mounted a pavement on Choi Ha Road in Ngau Tau Kok. The latter are being treated at hospital, with one of the injured women remaining in critical condition while two of the taxi's passengers remain in serious condition. A video uploaded to the internet shows a taxi speeding on Chun Wah Road before crashing into two female pedestrians at 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday. The 70-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death, and was sent to United Christian Hospital for treatment where he remains in stable condition. One of the injured pedestrians, a 38-year-old woman, was confirmed dead after she was brought to the hospital, while the other 31-year-old pedestrian remains in critical condition. Two of the taxi's passengers also sustained injuries. This as marks of the crash can still be seen on Choi Ha Road with the area remaining cordoned off by authorities. Several residents arrived on site to place flowers in remembrance of the woman who passed away. She and the other injured pedestrian both worked as dental assistants at the Caritas Ngau Tau Kok Dental Clinic. This mourner, a colleague of the deceased at the dental clinic, said the woman had a great personality and was helpful at work. She added the woman worked at the same clinic for more than a decade. Caritas Hong Kong emphasised it will do its utmost to assist the families of those who have died or were injured.
