President Xi Jinping holds welcome ceremony for US President Donald Trump

President Xi Jinping held a welcome ceremony for visiting US President Donald Trump outside the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday morning.

The two leaders exchanged greetings and introduced senior officials of each side to one another. The national anthems of America and China were performed. They then inspected the guards of honour.

The two leaders will hold meetings after the welcome ceremony. They will have an in-depth exchange of views on major issues concerning bilateral relations and world peace and development, according to China's foreign ministry.

Topics of discussion could include trade, Iran and Taiwan.

Trump is visiting China for 3 days from Wednesday to Friday. Top business leaders from the US were on the trip, including Tim Cook from Apple, Jenson  Huang from Nvidia and Elon Musk from Tesla.
