The first batch of Wang Chi House residents returned home to collect personal items for the second time on Wednesday. After about five months, Wang Chi House residents were allowed to returned home once again. Over the five-day return period, four members of each household can go up to their units and stay for a maximum of three hours. Being the only unaffected block of Wang Fuk Court in the Tai Po Fire, residents can take lifts to reach their floors. Some people said they wouldn't treat this as the final opportunity of going home. Speaking of the government's acquisition plan, which allows authorities to acquire Wang Fuk Court units if 75 percent of owners or more reach a consensus and sign a letter of acceptance no later than June 30th, a Wang Chi House resident said they would sell their unit. They hope authorities can start acting soon and provide a new home for them. Meanwhile, another resident said Hop On Management, the government-appointed administrator of Wang Fuk Court, should convene an owners' meeting. More than 240 Wang Fuk Court owners, representing 12 percent of households, requested Hop On to hold a meeting in a petition last month. In response, Hop On said it needs to seek legal advice and apply to the Land Tribunal for an extension for holding the meeting.
