Tunnel tolls discount for commercial vehicles starting this Sunday

The Government has announced a 50% reduction in tunnel tolls for commercial vehicles starting this Sunday. The concession will last for two months.

Under the new measure, all commercial vehicles—including buses, goods vehicles, minibuses, and taxis—will enjoy a half-price discount when using all government-tolled tunnels and the Tsing Sha Control Area.

The scheme begins this Sunday and will conclude at 11:59 PM on July 16. Private cars, motorcycles, and motor tricycles are not eligible for the waiver.
The Inter-departmental Task Force on Monitoring Fuel Supply stated that the move aims to assist drivers and operators in coping with the pressure of rising fuel costs. The Transport Department has already instructed service providers to calibrate the "HKeToll" system; therefore, vehicle owners do not need to apply.
Additionally, the Government reminds taxi passengers that they are still required to pay the full tunnel surcharge during the concession period.
