Two aviation incidents occurred at the Hong Kong International Airport today involving Cathay Pacific and Malaysia Airlines flights. No injuries were reported in either cases. In the first incident, Malaysia Airlines flight MH79 suffered a tyre burst during takeoff on the South Runway. Images shared online showed several Fire Services Department vehicles were on standby at the scene. The flight was scheduled to depart for Kuala Lumpur at around 9 a.m. Police confirmed no one on board was injured and all passengers were safely evacuated back to the terminal. At 1:30 p.m., Cathay Pacific flight CX253 bound for London Heathrow reported suspected abnormal engine vibrations shortly after taking off from the South Runway and was forced to turn back. The aircraft landed safely back on the runway at 3:12 p.m. The airline said the Boeing 777 may have suffered a mechanical fault and affected passengers will be rebooked on an alternative flight departing tonight.
