Samsung to exit China home appliance market amid intensifying competition

South Korea's Samsung Electronics announced it will withdraw from China's home appliance market due to intensifying competition.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung is restructuring its China business. It will pull out products such as televisions and other home appliances from the Chinese market, while continuing operations in smartphones, medical equipment, and semiconductors. The company also plans to strengthen cooperation with Chinese artificial intelligence firms.

Samsung will shift its focus in China toward advanced sectors such as research, production partnerships and investment.

Reuters reported that Samsung faces fierce competition from Chinese rivals in both mainland China and other markets in the home appliance sector. Combined with U.S. tariff measures, Samsung's home appliance division recorded a loss of 200 billion won last year, equivalent to about 1.08 billion Hong Kong dollars.
