Wang Fuk Court hearing revealed Housing Bureau failed to follow up on scaffolding net fire test

Housing Bureau senior maintenance surveyor Ku Siu-ping also admitted to the Wang Fuk Court fire inquiry that the bureau did not follow up on an incident involving a sample of the Wang Fuk Court scaffolding net being set on fire.
A video was played in the hearing that showed a piece of the scaffolding net used in the housing estate being set on fire, and was only put out manually after 15 seconds.
Ku said the contractor was responsible for putting out the fire but stressed later tests indicated the net could not be burned.
He added that the Housing Bureau relied on relevant certificates to determine whether the netting met the standard.
But when pushed on the issue by senior counsel Victor Dawes, Ku admitted that he subsequently found out the certificate was fake.
