Ahead of the 2026 Met Gala which was held in New York Monday night, celebrities were out in force to launch an exhibit called Costume Art.
Costume Art examines the dressed body through centuries of art history, from the corpulent body, disabled body to the pregnant and aging body,said Meta Gala co-chair Anna Wintour
The Met Gala honorary chair Lauren Sanchez announced that the Met has always understood something that the rest of the world is finally catching up to - that is fashion is art. And that designers are true artists.
Tennis champion Venus Williams said that she always remembered her mother sewing her first tennis skirt for a professional match.
Other hosts included Beyonce and Nicole Kidman.
The new exhibit is the most consciously body-positive show the museum has attempted.
