Driven by rising oil prices, CLP Power has raised its fuel charge for the second month in a row. Together with the basic tariff, the total tariff for May will reach 141.6 cents per unit of electricity. As shown on its website, residents will have to pay 0.6 cents more to 40.4 cents per unit of electricity for fuel charge starting May 1. This brings the total tariff up by 0.42 percent. Meanwhile, HK Electric announced last week that it will cut its fuel charge for May, citing lower fuel costs recorded early in the year. However, the power company warned of higher fuel charges from mid-year due to the Middle East war.
