Government received over 1,000 complaints since loosening of Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme

Authorities have received more than a thousand complaints since the loosening of the Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme two years ago.
Speaking at a Legislative Council meeting, a representative of the Labour Department said authorities received a total of 1,048 complaints related to the scheme between September 4th last year and last month.
The department has handled 287 of the cases as of last month, resulting in 89 warning letters being sent as well as 35 employers facing administrative sanctions.
Under such conditions, currently approved and future applications for imported labour submitted by the latter will be cancelled and rejected by the government respectively.
