Immigration arrests 12, including 8 illegal delivery workers

The Immigration Department arrested 12 people in a citywide operation, targeting illegal food delivery work.
Conducted from last Monday to yesterday, the operation arrested eight South Asian individuals aged between 22 and 51, who were holders of recognizance forms and suspected of breaching their conditions of stay by working illegally.
All have been formally charged. One of them had earlier pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 months and 10 days in prison.
The department also arrested four food delivery account holders on suspicion of aiding and abetting illegal workers, as well as conspiring to defraud delivery platforms.
