A trough of low pressure has brought about unstable weather conditions to the city, with the observatory earlier issuing the amber rainstorm signal.

Weather authorities also received reports of hail on a number of outlying islands.

Footage provided by a resident showed pieces of hail falling from the sky at around 5 p.m.

Throughout the amber rainstorm signal, a 20-metre-tall scaffolding collapsed on Lee Nam Road in Ap Lei Chau, injuring three men in the process.

A nearby tree also fell, with the region cordoned off by the police and fire services personnel.

In Mong Kok, heavy rain surprised many who didn't bring their umbrellas.

This as weather authorities issued the amber rainstorm signal at around 4 p.m. before dropping it at 7 p.m.
