The Orthodox Church's Easter weekend sees a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy said the halt to the war should continue beyond the holiday. The Ukrainian leader said Kyiv had conveyed the proposal to Russia, and "if Russia once more chooses war over peace, it will yet again show the world, and the US in particular, who truly stands for what." Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin attended an Orthodox Easter service in Moscow Saturday nig. Kremlin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov had said the ceasefire was a "humanitarian" gesture, but said Russia remains focused on a comprehensive settlement based on its longstanding demands. The holiday weekend also saw the swapping of prisoners, with 175 service members and seven civilians returned to Ukraine. Periodic prisoner exchanges have been one of the few positive outcomes of otherwise fruitless negotiations between the two sides.
