A commemorative event marking the 55th anniversary of the China-US Ping-Pong Diplomacy was held in Beijing.
Themed "One World, One Table - Shared Success and Win-Win Cooperation,' the event celebrated the people-to-people friendship between China and the US, and promoted the deepening of sports and cultural exchanges among young people of both countries.
It brought together over 500 participants, including representatives of the Chinese and American governments and institution, as well as witnesses of the Ping-Pong Diplomacy and renowned sports figures.
In April 1971, a US table tennis team took a historic trip to China, becoming the first delegation of Americans to officially visit China in decades. It helped lay the groundwork for the establishment of official diplomatic relations between Beijing and Washington.
