The Hospital Authority on Sunday said the bureau has been open to the public on matters related to a data leakage incident involving more than 56,000 patients from the Kowloon East Cluster.

The HA said the incident could have contained criminal elements, which means authorities must comply with the relevant ordinance when releasing updated information to the public. The bureau said it was a "pity" to see some comments made against the truth and relevant legislation.

Authorities reported the data breach on Friday morning, saying the lost information include patients' names, gender and ID card numbers.

The Kowloon East Cluster has set up a hotline for patient enquiries.
