Written exams for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or DSE will begin next week.

Some exam takers are turning to AI to support their preparation.

This Secondary Six student is poised to sit this year's DSE exam.

She has been leveraging various AI tools to study.

One example is generating Mind Maps to revise both arts and science subjects.

She says the AI-supported mind maps help break down the content into smaller parts.

Every time before drilling past papers, she reviews the Mind Maps.

In the past her predicted Biology resultswere around Level 3 -- now in mock exams, she's expected to attain a Level 5.

Teachers too are deploying AI-- to assist with marking.

The school's vice principal -- also a Biology teacher says before AI, even after marking carefully,it was difficult to write very detailed comments.

AI can generate 30 reports each tailored to the individual students' weaknesses and characteristics for their improvement.

A tech company has also rolled out an AI interactive tutor simulating real-time one-on-one conversations with students.

The team says AI can assess the degree of fluency including pauses during speaking practices and calculate overall score that aligns with the DSE curriculum.
