The independent inquiry looking into Wang Fuk Court's deadly blaze continues its seventh session today. Taking centre stage this morning is the housing estate's property management company -- ISS EastPoint. Testifying is its clerk Lok Sin-ying. The committee's lead counsel Victor Dawes cited residents' concerns as to why the fire services tanks have to be renovated. Lok agreed to have received such concerns, noting that maintenance contractor Prestige Construction and Engineering earlier explained that there was a need to repair the freshwater tanks. To conduct the repairs, the fire services tanks would serve as temporary freshwater tanks, and the fire services tanks would have to comply with freshwater facilities' standards. When asked about authorised ballots, Lok says they are common practices. When picking construction consultants for Wang Fuk Court, there were more than 100 authorised votes. But she admits the management company only verified the votes' names and units and did not authenticate the signatures. She says even a cross marked would be considered a signature. She says they would only follow up when there's missing information. Unfolded on November 26, the deadly fire claimed 168 lives with some 5,000 residents affected.
