Janice Tse appointed as constitutional and mainland affairs chief

The State Council has appointed Janice Tse, former Permanent Secretary for Environment and Ecology Bureau, as Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, succeeding Erick Tsang, who resigned in January this year for health reasons.

Chief Executive John Lee met the press this morning together with Tse. The State Council, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Basic Law and on John Lee’s nomination, decided to appoint Tse as Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.

Tse joined the government in 1987 and is a veteran Administrative Officer. 

John Lee said that a top priority during Tse’s tenure will be to assist in drawing up Hong Kong’s first five-year plan.
