Chief Executive John Lee arrived in Hainan to attend the Boao Forum for Asia annual conference.
He says the world should strive for cooperation instead of confrontation.
He adds that Hong Kong is willing to complement the advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port and work with global partners to build an open and prosperous future.
Chief Executive JOHN LEE: "I'm confident that the free trade port of Hainan and Hong Kong will complement each other in building a powerful engine for free trade. Hong Kong endeavors to welcome Hainan as well as our friends from the mainland and around the world that value free trade to build a prosperous global community with a shared future for humanity."
