International oil prices have surged due to the Middle East situation. Secretary for the Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan said Hong Kong's fuel supply is stable. He said, starting next month, oil company prices and international oil price trends will be published weekly to increase transparency. Affected by the escalating situation in the Middle East, international fuel prices have continued to rise. Secretary for the Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan said international fuel price fluctuations involve crude oil, while Hong Kong's vehicle fuel is "refined oil," meaning it is refined and processed by each oil company. However, Hong Kong's fuel prices have long been questioned as being subject to collusion. Tse said that starting next month, the prices of fuel from various oil companies and international fuel will be published to make it easier for the public to monitor. Tse said: "The actual selling prices of each oil company in Hong Kong after different discounts will be compared with the international refined oil price trend and published to the public once a week. If there are situations of 'rise fast but go down slowly', everyone can see the situation more accurately. He also pointed out that the fuel used in Hong Kong mainly comes from the mainland, emphasizing the stability of supply."
