The Independent Committee established by the government to investigate the deadly fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po held its second day of hearings to examine the impact of polyfoam boards on windows during the renovation at Wang Fuk Court. Commission Chairman David Lok, Vice Chairmen Chan Kin-por and Au Yeung Pak-kuen arrived at the City Gallery in Central. The opening statement was delivered by the commission's lead barrister Victor Dawes, who said the then-Wang Fuk Court Owners' Committee had inquired with Prestige Construction & Engineering Co. about the condition of the polyfoam boards two years prior. Prestige provided video footage showing a cigarette being used to burn the polyfoam boards, which did not ignite. However, later, residents posted footage on social media showing that the polyfoam boards were flammable. The Hearing continues over concerns about the polyfoam boards’ safety issues.
