The Complaints Against Police Office received 328 reportable complaints in the first two months of the year, down 24 percent year-on-year. They say complaints related to uniformed duties, crime, and traffic enforcement all declined. About 96 percent of the complaints were classified as minor, with the most common allegations including failure to properly investigate cases, poor attitude and delayed or no action taken. A total of 300 allegations were endorsed by the Independent Police Complaints Council. Among them, 49 percent were unsubstantiated and 18 percent were withdrawn. 14 percent underwent full investigation, with 4 percent substantiated. Separately, police said that since the implementation of the Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance, around 60 referral cases have been recorded. The number of video-recording suites used to collect evidence from suspected child abuse victims has increased to six.
