Eight wild boars entered Chuk Yuen North Estate in Wong Tai Sin Tuesday morning, before being tranquilised and removed by authorities.

The group, including two adult boars and six piglets, was spotted around 10 a.m. foraging in a park nearby.

Residents largely kept their distance, while security guards attempted to drive them away.

Police later arrived at the scene.

Officers from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, along with veterinarians, used food as bait before firing tranquiliser darts.

The animals ran briefly before collapsing and were subsequently removed.

AFCD said the captured animals included two adult females, three male piglets and three female piglets.

As they posed a threat to public safety in an urban area, they were eventually euthanised.
