U.S. President Donald Trump said some countries are really enthusiastic about joining the U.S. in policing the Strait of Hormuz.

That's despite U.S. allies including the UK made it clear they will not join the conflict.

This as Iran's foreign minister has warned the United States against deploying troops on its soil, saying they would drag them into a quagmire.

When asked by reporters which countries would join the U.S. in policing the Strait of Hormuz a vital channel for the world's oil industry, President Trump said he would rather not say but some countries were enthusiastic.

Trump also said he had spoken to French President Emmanuel Macron about the coalition to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Dutch prime minister Rob Jetten said tensions in the region would need to ease before the Netherlands could help secure the trade routes.

Speaking to Sky News in Tehran, Iran's Deputy Prime Minister said that any foreign country's 'boots on the ground' in Iran would be reckless and illegal.
