China Middle East envoy meets Saudi FM urging all parties to stop military operations

China's special envoy on Middle East issues Zhai Jun has expressed deep concern over rising tensions in the Middle East.
He stressed that promoting peace and ending hostilities is the fundamental way out of the current situation.
Zhai made the remarks Sunday at a meeting in Saudi Arabia with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
Zhai urged all parties to immediately stop military operations to prevent further escalation and avoid causing more harm to the people of the region.
He added, any attack on innocent civilians and non-military targets should be condemned.
The Saudi foreign minister expressed appreciation for China's consistent commitment to fairness and justice and voiced hope that China will continue to play a positive role in promoting a ceasefire.
