Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Leung Chun-ying said the city must align with the nation's 15th Five Year Plan
and showcase its status as a superconnector.
This as Leung stressed the central government's position on the "One Country, Two Systems" principle will not be changed.
He noted that the mainland's manufacturing sector is extremely competitive, adding that Hong Kong can contribute to the export of mainland products to international markets via its role as a global trade hub.
Leung stressed the city must also speed up its efforts to develop certain projects, especially the Northern Metropolis site.
The CPPCC National Committee vice chairman also said the city must stay vigilant on tackling national security challenges while boosting local development.
