The political party led by the former Katmandu mayor is set for a landslide victory in Nepal's first parliamentary election, after the 2025 protests that ousted the old leadership. The National Independent Party, or RSP, formed only 4 years ago, had already won 117 of 165 directly elected seats and led in 8 other constituencies in the results published Sunday by the National Election Commission. Other parties and candidates won only 36 seats in total so far. Final results are expected later in the week. The remaining 110 seats in the 275-member body are allocated through a proportional representation system. RSP also led that on Sunday, with about 51% of the 110 seats.
