Legislative councillor Judy Chan has been fined 2,000 dollars and suspended from driving for a month after she pleaded guilty to a count of careless driving. The defendant from the New People's Party admitted that she travelled against the flow of traffic on Jaffe Road on January 23. Chan said she had driven the car "without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road." She pledged not to make the same mistake again. Judge David Ko noted Chan was issued a fixed penalty for minor traffic offences on eight previous occasions throughout her 22 years of driving, and said the record wasn't too bad. However, he said the current offence was serious.
