Both work reports from China's top judicial bodies underscored heavy punishments for corruption.

The Supreme People's Court report noted that there were 36,000 cases of corruption last year, with 40,000 individuals involved.

Meanwhile, the Supreme People's Procuratorate report indicated that at least 3,200 people were prosecuted for bribery over the past year.

The case of "four major families" crime syndicates related to telecom fraud in northern Myanmar was mentioned in the Supreme People's Court report.

It emphasized that crimes committed abroad that harm Chinese citizens will still be punished according to Chinese law.
