Dogs are allowed on MTR trains for the first time on Sunday.

This came after the railway company joined the one-day event organised by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

A quota of 1,200 passes are available for owners and their dogs.

A group of dog owners and their "fur kids" gathered at Sunny Bay Station to head to Disneyland.

As per rules of the event, owners must place dogs inside a pet carrier,
while the owners themselves need to
wear wristbands for identification.

Owners are also forbidden to use wheeled pet strollers to transport dogs when using MTR networks.

Moreover, the event requires the group to board on the last train carriage.

Some owners said they hope MTR can allow pets to ride on trains more regularly, even if it's only limited to weekends.

MTR, meanwhile, said it would not rule out such a possibility.
