Prosecutors at the International Criminal Court started presenting evidence to support their charges against former Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, detailing his alleged involvement in dozens of killings as part of his "war on drugs."

The ex-leader is facing 3 counts of charges of crimes against humanity at the international court in the Netherlands. The charges stemmed from killings while he served as the mayor of Davao, and later as president.

Back in Manila, dozens of activists and relatives of people slain in the anti-drug crackdowns protested and called on the court to confirm charges against the former president.

More than 100 relatives of victims gathered to watch the pre-trial hearings on big screens in three venues organised by civic groups in Manila.
