The Ministry of Commerce added 20 Japanese entities to its export control list, citing concerns over Japan's "remilitarisation". They include Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Shipbuilding and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Aero Engines. The ministry said the restrictions were aimed at curbing Japan's "remilitarisation" and nuclear ambitions, adding exporters and overseas bodies are also banned from transferring Chinese-origin dual-use items to the listed entities. Subaru Corporation and Tokyo University of Science have also been placed on a watch list. Dual-use items are defined as goods, tech and services that have both civilian and military applications or could enhance military potential. China's 2026 control list includes rare earth minerals and drones as well as nuclear-related materials and tech.
