Hong Kong racehorse "Ka Ying Rising" made history by securing his 18th consecutive win in the Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup at the Sha Tin Racecourse. Ka Ying Rising cruised to second place in mere moments after the start of the race just behind Copartner Prance. 10 horses aimed to win the 1,400-metre event with victory offering a 13 million dollar-cash reward. Ridden by veteran jockey and old partner Zac Purton, the duo had their eyes on yet another victory. The gelding found the perfect spot for an overtake as it sped towards the finish line in the final 300 metres. History was thus made with the New Zealand-born racehorse securing his 18th consecutive win, surpassing his beloved predecessor Silent Witness's 17 consecutive wins. Ka Ying Rising has only lost twice throughout its career. At just 5 years old, the racehorse also broke records by completing the event in just 1 minute 19.36 seconds. David Hayes, trainer of Ka Ying Rising said: "I thought he can break his record. Such a relief to do it. Best horse I've ever trained, and the best horse I've ever well-trained, and almost the best horse I've ever seen. So, he's very special. May he continue for couple more years because he is the youngest horse in the race." This longtime fan of Silent Witness said he's both excited and proud to see Hong Kong raising so many talented racehorses. While this spectator praised Ka Ying Rising for its speed, and hopes the gelding can secure two more consecutive wins.
