Thousands of people across the city queued outside betting stations on Saturday for a Mark Six Snowball draw that has a potential top prize of 200 million dollars. This marks the largest ever Lunar New Year draw and the highest prize payout in Mark Six history.
This was the scene outside the Jockey Club's betting station on Stanley Street in Central on Saturday morning. And if you think that's the end of the queue, you are wrong. The queue had stretched all the way to Wellington Street by noon. Some people said they had no idea how to spend the money if they did win the first prize. But all expressed excitement.
Resident Angela said: "The prize is very big. Maybe, maybe I'm lucky this time. They say this (branch) is the luckiest.
(How long have you been waiting?) "Maybe already one hour."
(And you think is worth the wait?) "Yes, it worth, no problem."
Inside the betting station, people are busy selecting the lucky numbers. Tickets for the Mark Six are on sale up until 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, while the draw will be held at 9:30 p.m.
Mark six snowball draws are often held on special seasonal or festive occasions, including the Lunar New Year and Mid-autumn festival.
