The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for an explosion at a Chinese restaurant in Afghanistan. At least seven people were killed in the incident, including one Chinese national. The explosion happened in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, on Monday afternoon. Local authorities said the restaurant was owned by an Afghan man and a Chinese couple. Meanwhile, local media reported that the blast was connected to China's treatment of Uyghur Muslims. The Afghan branch of the Islamic State Group later claimed responsibility for the blast, saying it was conducted by a suicide bomber. Beijing condemned the explosion and urged Afghan authorities to "make every effort to treat the injured and further take effective measures to protect the safety of Chinese nationals" in the country. The Chinese authorities also advised nationals to refrain from travelling to Afghanistan in the short term.
