Three commercial sites set out for student hostel development

The government has invited stakeholders to submit expressions of interest for post-secondary student hostel development at three commercial sites.
The three sites are in Kai Tak, Siu Lek Yuen and Tung Chung East. The largest site, at 0.74 hectares, is located near the Kai Tak Sports Park.
In a statement, the Development Bureau said all three sites are readily developable and have basic infrastructure.
The bureau estimated that the sites could offer 4,500 beds, but the actual number will depend on the design of the projects. Tendering is expected to start in 2026/27 at the earliest.
