Locals and tourists gathered at the Kam Tin Heung Jiao Festival on Saturday for its lion dance competition and food fair. The festival is held once every 10 years.

The festival, which features a five-storey temporary bamboo theatre, has obtained entry into the Guinness World Records for being the world's largest bamboo altar.

For the first time, a lion dance competition was organised under the theatre. Some mainland tourists were glad to see the lion dance and bamboo scaffolding in Hong Kong. They said while those elements are part of the traditional Chinese culture, it was difficult to find them on the mainland.

Another highlight of the festival was the food fair which consisted of 70 stalls. A vendor was pleased with the crowd, saying it helped attract customers.
