Significant water activities still existed on the surface of Mars until approximately 750 million years ago, said Chinese researchers on Tuesday after analyzing high-frequency radar data obtained by China's first Mars rover Zhurong. The latest finding extends Mars' history of harboring water by several hundred million years, providing new evidence for a renewed understanding of the planet's climatic evolution, geological processes, and potential habitability for lives, said the Institute of Geology and Geophysics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Previously, the scientific community believed that Mars had entered an overall arid stage about 3 billion years ago.
