Both Denmark and Greenland's leaders pushed back on US President Donald Trump's call for Washington's jurisdiction over Greenland.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Trump should be taken seriously when he speaks about wanting Greenland.
She made it clear that if the US chooses to attack another NATO country militarily, then "everything stops", as it would undermine the alliance.
Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said the island is seeking to strengthen cooperation with the US, but "the situation is not such that the US can simply conquer Greenland."
Trump told reporters on Sunday to talk "about Greenland in 20 days", sparking further fears that the US is planning an intervention in Greenland in the near future.
