Israel's air force struck areas in southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday, claiming they are home to infrastructure for Hezbollah and Hamas groups. The strike came just a few days before Lebanon's army commander is scheduled to brief the government on disarming Hezbollah in areas along the border with Israel. It's reported that a home struck in the Bekaa Valley belonged to Sharhabil as-Sayed, a Hamas commander who was killed in an Israeli drone strike in 2024. The Lebanese army last year began the disarmament process of Palestinian groups and had aimed to clear Hezbollah's armed presence in areas close to the Israeli border by the end of 2025. Monday's airstrikes were in villages far from the Israeli border.
