South Korean President Lee Jae-myung arrived in Beijing for a four-day state visit to China.
It is Lee's first visit to China since he took office.
A Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that China and South Korea are important neighbours and partners.
It is expected that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and South Korea's head of state, the visit will play an active role in promoting the further development of partnership between Beijing and Seoul.
