Air Canada has suspended plans to restart operations, after the union representing 10,000 flight attendants said it will defy a return to work order.
Canada's largest airline now says it will resume flights Monday evening, but the Canadian Union of Public Employees remains defiant.
The Canadian government had ordered the flight attendants to go back to work and asked for arbitration between the airline and the employees.
The strike was already affecting about 130,000 travellers around the world per day during the peak summer travel season.
Two flights between Hong Kong and Vancouver were cancelled on Monday. Air Canada says it will help affected travellers rebook on other flights.
