Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Guo Jiakun speaks about the latest situation regarding chikungunya infections.
China's National Health Commission previously briefed the press on the imported chikungunya infections and domestic infections triggered by the imported cases in certain cities in southern China. The convention stated that the infections are preventable, treatable and is under control.
Chikungunya infection is a mosquito-borne disease that has been reported overseas in the 1950s. So far, the spread of the chikungunya infections have been found in 119 countries and regions around the world. We've learned that China is in communication with the WHO on this.
