Shanghai grapples with dual threat of tropical storm and tsunami

Tropical Storm Co-May made landfall in the port city of Zhoushan in Zhejiang Province in the early hours of today.
Shanghai, also bracing for the storm, has evacuated more than 280,000 people as a safety precaution.
In anticipation of Co-May making another landfall near Shanghai tonight, the city has issued red alerts for rain, thunderstorms and typhoons.
To prepare for possible flooding, railway authorities have suspended or slowed train services and transport hubs have stacked sandbags.
So far, over 280,000 people have been evacuated and are taking shelter at emergency centres.
Authorities earlier urged caution as the coasts of Shanghai and Zhoushan could face a dual threat from a tropical storm and a tsunami triggered by today's earthquake near Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula.
