Hong Kong inflation rate eases to 1.4%

The inflation rate eased to 1.4 percent in June, marking the second month of decline.
The government estimates that the overall inflation will remain modest in the near term.
Last month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1.4 percent over the last 12 months, 0.5 percentage points down from May.
Housing saw the highest increase in prices among various components, followed by transport, electricity, gas and water.
Meanwhile, clothing, durable goods and basic food recorded drops in prices.
