Israeli forces have launched an assault on Deir-al-Balah in central Gaza.

There are reports of a ground offensive in the city where thousands of displaced Palestinians have been living.

Israel's military issued evacuation orders for one of the few areas it rarely operates and where many international organisations distribute aid.

Before sunrise, the IDF began a new attack on Deir-al-Balah.

Several small and at least one huge explosion as this latest Israeli military operation carried through last night and into Monday.

After daybreak, smoke still seen rising into the clouds.

The area is a temporary home to thousands of displaced Palestinians, many already forced to move to get out of harm's way as Israel hunts down Hamas personnel.

"Planes dropped evacuation leaflets," Manal Abu Mandeel says.

"Our whole area was red. We were surprised by the extent -- most of Deir-al-Balah, south of Deir al-Balah. The west, it is all red. People are suffering. There is no transport. Everyone must carry their belongings.

The Director of Save The Children in Gaza is in Deir-al-Balah.

Rachel Cummings is concerned: Evacuation notices across Deir al-Balah affecting between 50 and 80,000 people who are now being forcibly displaced from Deir-al-Balah into Al-Muwasi in Khan Younis, and some of my team are living in these areas, and they literally have nowhere to go. There is nowhere for people to go.

This man leaves Deir-al-Balah on a donkey-drawn cart.

Sirens wail as he slowly moves away from the area.

He is startled. An explosion behind him. Smoke fills the sky.

This area and others already rocked as Gaza mourns at least 85 Palestinians shot by Israeli forces while trying to get food at various locations.

The ambulances brought the injured but also the dead to this hospital.

Israel blamed Hamas for the "crowded chaos" and said the death toll numbers were exaggerated.

Cummings says the situation in Gaza has never been this bad : "They are desperately hungry. Children are crying all the time for food. And my teams who are employed, they have money in their bank accounts, they're unable to find food in Gaza to buy. So the situation is absolutely terrible and people are making impossible choices to risk their lives to try and find food.

Clean water also scarce.

A camera crew followed Luay Abu Nuqairahas he fills his truck and travels around Deir-al-Balah.

Crowds gather to collect the offerings in canisters or bags.

The numbers grow as word filters through that Luay has arrived as he does every few days.

This was filmed before one of the deadliest days for aid seekers since the war started and Israel intensified operations in the area.
